Landfill Gas
We're finding treasure in trash by using engines to generate electricity from the methane gas at landfills.
Methane, a greenhouse gas, is created when garbage in landfills decompose. This gas is collected from landfills by drilling "wells" into the landfills, and collecting the gases through pipes. The gas can then be used to fuel our engines.
Solar
Today, technology allows us to harness the sun's energy to transform it into clean, renewable electricity.
Solar panels, or photovoltaic cells, are electricity-producing devices using the sun as a source of clean and abundant fuel. Some photovoltaic cells are made of silicon, which captures the energy in sunlight and creates an electric current.
